It is common to see other Student Unions encourage attendance to these important meetings with free pizzas, but as we’ll be hosting our AGM online, we can’t exactly hand out slices! Instead, we’re thrilled to offer the first 170 attendees a £5 voucher as a thank you for taking part!

Whether you’ve been with ULaw for a while and involved in the SU already, or completely new – this is a great opportunity to:

  • Hear from the SU team on what’s been going on and what’s coming up
  • Raise ideas and feedback on what you think the SU should be working on to make change, create community, and be there for students
  • Ask questions!

You can view the agenda for 2026 below, keep reading if you'd like to submit a new policy idea to be discussed!

Submit a Policy Idea

Submitting a new policy idea gives you the ability to shape your Students' Union or direct our efforts to improve your student experience. You do not need to have a fully fledged proposal to contribute to this, we simply ask that you fill in some questions which will cover what issue you've identified, how it affects students, and what change you'd like to see.

We want you to feel confident in sharing your idea. If you have any questions about the process you can get in touch with us at studentsunion@law.ac.uk and we will be happy to speak through the process and how we can make sure your proposal is suitable.

It is important to note when considering submitting policy that there are things we can and can't do:

  • We can support any issue that directly impacts students at the University of Law, this might include issues around the cost of living, international student support, health and wellbeing or anything that directly impacts you as ULaw students.
  • We can't spend money on any issue that does not impact ULaw students, this might include supporting specific political campaigns which are partisan, or issues that impact the wider society but do not specifically impact you as students.

Do not let this put you off submitting any ideas, we can work with you to identify what we can and can't do when it comes to specific policies!

Submit a new policy idea now.

When you complete the form, we'll ask the following questions:

  1. What is the title of your policy? This is a brief title which clearly describes your idea or policy. This could be short and simple, or you might want to make it fun and memorable!
  2. What is the issue and how does it affect students? What is the current situation? How does it affect ULaw students? You might want to think about and include any research or statistics that might support your idea or policy. This section should describe what the current problem is.
  3. What are the changes you would like to see to make this happen? What are the changes that would solve your problem? What outcome would be desirable for students? This section should identify what an ideal outcome would look like?
  4. How could ULaw SU, the University, and students work together to solve this? This should outline the potential action the Students' Union could take on this matter, you do not need to know exactly what we should do, but if you have any ideas this is the section to raise them. You should think about how the SU, University, and students could work together to achieve this goal.

What happens next?

Your points will be compiled into a policy document; this will be done in consultation with our Full Time Officers and if necessary our Student Parliament, alongside you as the policy proposer.

These will then go to our next Annual General Meeting or Student Parliament to be voted on, and if they pass the threshold necessary, they will become Union Policy. We will keep you updated throughout this process. If you have any questions in the meantime do not hesitate to reach out to us!
