Find your community and make lasting connections at ULaw!
Finding community at university can mean lots of different things for different people, especially at ULaw! With students and staff from all over the world engaging with us in hundreds of different ways, there's no shortage of opportunities to meet new people. Whether you simply want to say hi in a chat, pop in on a quick networking activity, or want to get more involved in building up a regular community group, you're in the right place.
Meeting new people can be daunting, but finding them in the first place is half the battle!
Our Community Chats are open to all students with an active ULaw IT account and they're a great space to introduce yourself and make friends, especially for online students.
Hosted on Microsoft Teams, these chats provide spaces for students to meet, chat, socialise, organise activities together and bond over common interests. We currently have two 'Teams', both of which contain a number of 'Channels' or chats. These serve as categories for areas of discussion and engagement. Similar to online forums or social media feeds, messages and posts each have their own comment thread to help make replies and updates easier than many common messaging apps.
Student Groups, like Clubs and Societies, are a great way to meet other students with similar interests. Led by committees of students, they organise events and activities to build communities across ULaw, and make connections beyond!
Groups are either Online (hosting virtual events and activities and open to any student) or based on a single campus. You are welcome to join groups from other campuses if you're not too far!
Browse GroupsWhether academic, social, or a bit of both, there are plenty of flexible activities available to students to attend and enjoy.
Our events calendar is growing to include a variety of online workshops as well as inter-campus trips, conferences, speaker events and competitions!
Browse ActivitiesPretty much everything we do started with a student or two raising an idea! We're always open to trying new things, so if you think something is missing just let us know.
Students can suggest new chats, groups or activities, with a variety of SU support and funding opportunities available to help them grow.
