What happens next?

Sara and Junaid will begin in their roles on the 1st July, 2026. Before then we'll be arranging handover meetings with the current Co-President Team (Jana and Uche), organising training, and ensuring they have everything they need to develop their aims and be successful in the role - watch this space!

In the meantime, you can read the manifestos they used during the election below to give you an idea of their plans for the year ahead.

Sara Sikora (Academic Affairs)

Introduce yourself!
Hi! I’m Sara, a BPC student in Leeds ULaw. Having very recently completed my undergraduate degree at ULaw Manchester, I’ve experienced student life across two of our major hubs. I currently balance my studies with work as a paralegal, giving me a professional perspective on the academic support we need to succeed. When I’m not in the library, I’m likely being bossed around by my cute chihuahua, Megi! My journey from Manchester to Leeds has shown me our community's strengths and the stress we face. I’m ready to use my experience to be your academic lifeline. Vote SOS!

Why do you think you are a good fit?
I am outspoken and unafraid to advocate for the changes we need. Having served as a Class Rep, 3rd-Year LLB Rep, EDI Director, Money Mentor, and Senior Prefect, I have a proven track record of student leadership. My experience as a Money Mentor means I understand the practical pressures students face outside the classroom. These roles have taught me how to negotiate with senior staff and deliver results. I am ready to be your 'critical friend' to the university, ensuring our academic voices are heard and our stress is managed effectively.

What are your ambitions for the role?
My mission is to solve your stress. I'll push for more practice and detailed, actionable feedback so we are fully prepared for assessments. I want to implement a flexible 'Catch-Up' protocol for missing lessons and guarantee practical work experience for everyone. I’ll advocate for a curriculum that includes life skills, practical application, and the commercial awareness required in law firms. I’ll ensure our education goes beyond the books to make us practice-ready for the real world and the senior level. I will personally tackle any queries you have, ensuring your voice is heard.

Junaid Iqbal (Union Development)

Introduce yourself!
My name is Junaid Iqbal, a student at ULaw London Moorgate studying MSc Project Management. During my bachelor’s, I was Finance Manager for S.H.E.D, gaining leadership, organisation, and teamwork skills. As an international student, I faced challenges adjusting to university life and see new students facing the same. I am motivated to support student wellbeing, ensure the Union is accessible to all, and be a strong voice by listening and helping students find the support they need.

Why do you think you are a good fit?
I am putting myself forward because I am passionate about representing students and ensuring their voices are heard. Through my involvement with university societies during my bachelor’s and my experience as a teacher, I have developed strong communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills. Working with students from diverse backgrounds has taught me the importance of listening, fairness, and reliability. I am motivated to create positive change and support student wellbeing.

What are your ambitions for the role?
As Co-President, my aim is to build an inclusive, active, and supportive student community. I will expand sports like cricket, football, badminton, and table tennis to promote health and reduce stress. I plan seminars on gender equality, breast cancer, and LGBTQ+ inclusion with international organisations. I also want to celebrate cultural diversity and organise regular student get-togethers to connect, share experiences, reduce stress, and strengthen belonging

Campus Race Results

As part of the election, we encouraged students to vote through our Campus Race! Each campus was grouped by size, and the campus in each group with the highest turnout could win bonus funding towards their end of year ball, as well as extra prize draws for their students!

Congratulations to the following campuses!

  • Large: Moorgate - with a turnout of 28.4%
  • Medium: Nottingham - with a turnout of 16.5%
  • Small: Southampton - with a turnout of 20.8%

We'll be in touch with your local teams about the funding and prize draw winners will be notified by email.

Charity Donation

Following our pledge to donate £1 per voter in both the Autumn 2025 and Spring 2026 Elections, we're thrilled to announce a total donation pot for this year of £4,266! Our student parliament proposed and voted to split the donation between three deserving charities with each receiving £1,422:

  • Action on Postpartum Psychosis - This charity supports and advocates for new mums and families affected by postpartum psychosis - a severe but treatable mental illness following birth, as well as campaigning and raising money to provide more Mother and Baby Units across the UK.
  • Albert Kennedy Trust - 24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQ+. This charity aims to help those people and last year they provided 6,075 nights of accommodation to vulnerable LGBTQ+ young people. Of those people, 77% believe that coming out to their parents was the main factor for their homelessness, and are sleeping rough as an alternative to living in a hostile home environment. This charity seeks to provide a welcoming and non-judgemental approach to assisting homeless young people and getting them off the streets.
  • The Cinnamon Trust - This charity supports elderly and terminally ill pet owners ensuring that they can stay close to their pet even when they cannot look after it.
