Description

We are a group of students passionate about International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL). Recognising that IHL receives limited attention in the curricula of British law schools, we seek to bridge this gap by encouraging awareness, critical thinking and career interest in humanitarian law.

In a time of ongoing conflict and humanitarian crises, there is a pressing need for informed legal professionals and IHL advocates who understand the legal frameworks which seek to protect human dignity and limit the effects of war.
We hope to create a safe space for this subject to be explored and in the long-term to create a network of like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about ensuring its application and enforcement.
Our committee recently set a precedent at The University of Law as the first team to participate in the 47th Jean-Pictet International Humanitarian Law Competition in Indonesia, through independent self-study of the discipline.

We hope to encourage and mentor any future applicants interested, pass down our first-hand learned experience to those with similar humanitarian ambitions, and to see this vital area fully integrated into university curricula in the future.

We aim to organise lectures and networking events with guest speakers from pivotal organisations in the field such as The British Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and various NGOs.
