We are the Student Debate Society on the London Bloomsbury campus. We host exciting debates on legal, political, and philosophical topics. We provide regular in-person debating events as well as online debates. Also, look out for mooting events coming soon!
Sign up to become a member and debate at our events! By signing up you consent to receiving email notifications about upcoming events. Our offerings include Parliamentary style debates, Oxford Union debates, as well as more casual and fun debating formats.
Our events typically feature ULaw lecturers (and sometimes external speakers) who judge debaters and allocate scores, certificates, and prizes!
Our society is open to everyone who wants to debate, spectate, or simply ask questions. We welcome members with any level of experience - from seasoned debaters to complete first-timers.

The aims of our Society are:
- To create an environment for students to compete and socialise.
- To allow students to practice their public speaking skills and gain confidence.
- To expose students to different viewpoints and facilitate free expression of ideas.
- To provide opportunities for students to impress and network with professionals
