Hey! I'm Benn, Chair of the Students' Union Governing Board (SUGB).

As Chair of the Board, it is my job to lead meetings of the SUGB. I work closely with the SU Manager, and the Deputy Chair, to ensure that the decisions of the board are carried out. It is an honour and a privilege to have been appointed to this role, during what is a very exciting time for ULaw SU, and I am looking forward to leading on the continued development of the SUGB during my term.

Before joining the SUGB I served as a Full-Time Officer at Strathclyde Students’ Union (Strath Union). As Strath Union President, I served as the Chair of the Strath Union Board of Trustees and, working in partnership with the Union CEO, navigated a challenging year as we worked our way out of the pandemic and opened our brand new students union building. Alongside completing my degree at Strathclyde, I am currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Democratic Procedures Committee (DPC) of the National Union of Students, where it is my responsibility to ensure that NUS democracy is run in a fair and impartial manner. Further to this, I also serve on the trustee board of Action for Local Youth Voice Empowerment UK (ALYVE UK), a radical youth led charity that advocates for and supports local youth forums across Scotland and the UK.

Outside of the world of student unions and charities, I have a love for all things Japan. It has been a lifelong goal to visit and work in the country, which I hope to do in the near future.
