The Undergraduate Law Inter-Campus mooting competition! 

Created this year by our SU Co-President for Academic Affairs, Peter Bolaji, we hope this project will provide opportunities for students to enhance their skills and network with students from all over the world. 

 

The Mission:

To create a collaborative environment for Undergraduate Law students, to develop their advocacy, legal research, and problem-solving skills through an engaging and competitive inter-campus mooting experience, aligning with the SU's strategic priorities and university goals.

 

The Vision:

To establish an annual, high-quality, inter-campus mooting that provides students with invaluable practical experience, preparing them for their future legal careers and other opportunities.

In addition to all participants recieving certificates and awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, students can expect to build on a wide range of skills and opportunities:

Eligibility

You must be a current,Undergraduate Law Student studying on one of the following campuses:

  • Birmingham
  • Nottingham
  • Online
  • Bloomsbury
  • Leeds
  • Guildford
  • Bristol
  • Manchester

Where the number of applications exceeds 24 per campus, participants will be selected based on year of study, with final year students receiving priority. Following that, participants will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis. Sign Ups must be recieved before 3PM, 18/10/24. 

Groups

Students sign up individually and following the deadline for registration they will be assigned into groups of 4, including the following roles (assigned randomly). 

  • Lead appellant
  • Junior appellant
  • Lead respondent
  • Junior respondent

Timetable

Registration is now open to all Undergraduate Law Students! Sign up before 3PM, 18/10/24.

The timetable is split into 2 Stages:

  • First Stage: 2 Rounds, accross the UK
    • 3PM, 18/10: Deadline for signups
    • Following the deadline, applicants will be assigned to groups and notified
    • 23/10: Training around problems and mooting and 1st Round Problems Issued
    • 04/11/24 – 08/11/24: First Round (More details TBC)
    • 11/11/24: 2nd Round Problems Issued
    • 02/12/24 - 06/12/24: 2nd Round (More details TBC)
  • Second Stage: Final in London Bloomsbury Campus
    • 03/03/25: Final Problems Issued
    • 26/03/25: Final Event

Dates are subject to change. The goal is for each campus to be ready for the final at the same time.
