International Students

International Students may have a variety of concerns whilst at university.

Starting University

Huma Hasan has created a comprehensive mini course specially designed to support our international student community, featuring video guides to help ease your transition to life in the UK. The course focuses on three key areas: Cultural Adjustment, where you will learn about local customs to help you feel more at home; Bridging Language Barriers, offering practical tips and resources to enhance your English language skills and boost your communication confidence; and Managing Homesickness, providing effective strategies to cope with being away from home and support your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Here's the link to the course: https://rise.articulate.com/share/Mnnviq-AzSp-HOTYR6gWLaeMIYeqpYlZ#/

Huma has also created a checklist for new students which may help when moving: https://studentsunion.law.ac.uk/articles/checklist-for-new-students

Issues Whilst at University

We know there can be a variety of concerns at university, including to do with communications, Visas, Finances and creating a support network. Pedram Bani Asadi and Have have set up the International Student Voice Committee so that the university can hear your voice effectively, so that the university can make the changes you want to see.

To see how the Committee has heard international student voices before, check out this article. https://studentsunion.law.ac.uk/articles/international-student-voice-committee

If you want to join committee meetings, or have any concerns, please reach out. You can email the Students’ Union at StudentsUnion@law.ac.uk.

Kind regards,

Huma Hasan and Pedram Bani Asadi
