Criminal Trials

The presentation will begin by taking a look at how the criminal trial procedure works when a defendant pleads not guilty in the magistrates court. What the process and procedure is and the various stages of a criminal trial including the order of who gives evidence, what evidence is allowed, what the roles of the Judge, Clerk, prosecutor and defence solicitor is and how to get the best out of your client when its their turn to give evidence. 

The session will be delivered by ULaw students who are studying on the BPC LLM programme as part of the Pro Bono module and who are supervised by Sabeeha Khan. Sabeeha is currently a ULaw Lecturer and has been a criminal solicitor for many years representing clients at the magistrates court and police station detained for a range of criminal offences during her legal career.
