Martina Mandy

Martina Mandy is a Psychology student at the University of Manchester. She is intrigued by the work of discipline and self-growth. She is particularly interested with the boundaries associated with rejection and how people respond to this. Martina combines a personal story with psychological insight to inspire others to view rejection not as a setback but as a redirection. Beyond her academic studies she’s interested in the world of business and actively involved in leadership roles that are centred around growth. Her aim is to help people view a different perspective that empowers people. Martina’s Tedx talk ‘Redefining rejection’ invites people to move beyond their internal boundaries and embrace new opportunities.

Aruna Verma qualified as a litigation solicitor in 2005 and is the Dean of the Moorgate and Southampton campuses at the University of Law (ULaw), also supporting the Hong Kong campus. She is an Associate Professor with a strong commitment to legal education and student development. Aruna is a trained mediator and serves as a Tribunal Chair at The Valuation Tribunal, bringing her legal expertise to public service. With 15 years of experience in HR and leadership development across banking, FMCG, technology, and energy, Beyza helps leaders and teams foster a culture of psychological safety, trust, feedback, and recognition, creating workplaces where people feel valued, engaged, and empowered. She holds a degree in Psychology from Boğaziçi University, an MBA, and has completed the Artificial Intelligence program at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. Siew Man Yeo

Siew Man Yeo is a Bar Training Course student at the University of Law, passionate about personal growth and overcoming limitations. Through her own journey of facing criticism and self-doubt while pursuing law, she discovered how mindset and resilience can transform barriers into breakthroughs. Her TEDx talk, ‘Beyond Boundaries: The Illusion of Limitation’, explores how our perceived limits- both internal and external- shape our potential, and how we can break free from them. She hopes to inspire others to challenge their self-imposed boundaries and embrace discomfort as a path to growth.

Scott Walker

Scott Walker is a Solicitor, trainer, and professional speaker in Wills and probate law, as well as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law. He is also an introvert, a Highly Sensitive Person, and someone who was once told he was too quiet to make it in law. But Scott has found that the very traits he and others thought were weaknesses have actually become his biggest strengths. Drawing on personal experience of building a successful career as a shy and introverted lawyer, he challenges traditional narratives of success and champions the power of quiet leadership, deep listening, and thoughtful communication. Through practical skills-based training, Scott now helps legal professionals and law firms understand how introversion and extroversion shape how we work. He champions the belief that by embracing diverse personality types, we can build stronger teams, deepen client relationships, and create a more inclusive, human-centred profession.

Thomas Locke

Thomas Locke is fascinated by the crossroads of law and medicine. A future trainee solicitor at Burges Salmon LLP, he studied History at Durham University before pursuing an MA in Law at the University of Law. He studies how existing medicines can be patented for new uses, uncovering the tension between rewarding discovery and ensuring patients get access to care. As host of the Johns Hopkins Malaria Minute podcast, Thomas translates scientific discovery into stories that inform and inspire. At TEDx, he asks: how can the law reward medical innovation without standing in the way of patients and the people who care for them?

"

Beyond Boundaries means stepping into the arena where fear ends and possibility begins. It involved pushing past limitations, redefining what is achievable, and daring to evolve into a truer, bolder version of myself. It is the courage to expand, create, and grow beyond every line once drawn around my potential.

"

Susana Kyei

In the words of Arthur C. Clarke, “The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.” To me, Beyond Boundaries means breaking through the internal barriers of the mind and heart and stepping confidently into my God-given purpose, daring to pursue aspirations that may seem unattainable. I have learned that going beyond boundaries requires courage, conviction, and a willingness to grow through discomfort. Whether championing international student voices, empowering women and inspiring youth through leadership, or pursuing a career at the Bar of England and Wales, I have embraced opportunities that stretch and continue to shape me. I believe transcending boundaries is about transformation and becoming who God wonderfully created us to be.

I joined TEDx because of what it represents, and I care about people, ideas, systems and how can be connected to thrive with each other. As Secretary for TEDx University of Law Moorgate, I help turn vision into action. As a master law conversion student, I love to focus on details, extracting clarity from chaos, turning messy meetings into actionable plans, asking tricky questions in order to solve problems what potentially no one thinks about. Thank you for all off the team members involved for such an amazing achievement. Well done.

"

I'm weird, and I love it, because that weirdo vibes gives different perspectives to analyse things beyond boundaries. Beyond the usual style of approaching the day-by-day life. I'm not perfect, I make a lot of silly things but in all these years I learned how to stand up, how to start all over again, over and over. It is okay to be weird, to dare to dream big, to dare to dream that impossible can become possible, when you know that you're not alone and all we compensate each other craziness.
