The University of law students' Union

Skills Development Plan

Welcome to the Skills Development Programme (SDP).

The SDP is a series of workshops and courses which aim to provide additional skills and qualifications that you may not get chance to gain through your academic course.

Most workshops are completely free of charge, with the exception of the Negotiation Skills and Mediation Training courses. All courses and workshops are held virtually via Microsoft Teams, unless otherwise stated.

Whilst priority will be given for students where numbers are limited, members of university staff are also welcome to register for sessions.

You will receive a certificate of attendance after completing most of the sessions in this booklet, with the exception of the official training courses (such as the Mediation and Negotiation courses, which will provide a separate certificate).

What's on this term?

Please take the time to read through the programme and decide if you would like to take part in any of the opportunities. All times given are in GMT.

Who organises the SDP?

Laura Trussell, Academic Representation Coordinator

My name is Laura, and I started as Academic Representation Coordinator at the Students’ Union last August. As part of my role, I coordinate the administration of the Skills Development Programme.

Thank you to all the staff and contributors who have volunteered or offered their services at a discount, without them the SDP wouldn't be such a massive success and we're thrilled to offer these opportunities to the ULaw family!

I would love to hear your feedback about the Skills Development Programme, and your ideas for future sessions! If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, please get in touch with me at laura.trussell@law.ac.uk.
