Your Voice in 2019/20

Monday 17-08-2020 - 12:00

Dear all Students,

I am writing to you as your current Student Association President to update you all on some of the notable work the Student Association have achieved this year. This year has been notably filled with challenges, especially with the transition to online teaching in light of Covid-19. However, the Student Association have continued to ensure your voice is at the heart of the decision-making process.

I will cover key areas that I have worked on whilst in my role as President of the Student Association, this will be over a number of short articles highlighting the work that I have done to represent you and ensure your voice was heard this year.

Your voice

This year I have focused on making your voice known, and for the first time ever, the Student Association was invited to attend 2 Board of Director meetings for presentations. At these meetings, I was able to communicate the valuable feedback you have provided me with in order to make you heard at the universities highest decision-making body. Alongside this, I have also been an active member of the Academic Board and the Academic Standards Committee to make sure I represent your interests and create necessary change.

Throughout the year, the Student Association have made all efforts to travel to campuses and meet with students. Visibility of the Association was something I made an absolute priority for the department; by doing so, we were able to capture more feedback than ever and act upon this by the most appropriate means.

We have also listened to your voice through Student Parliament, which was our largest to date, and through Staff Student Liaison Committee meetings by our Executive Officer collecting all of the minutes.
