Response to recent events in Israel and Gaza
Joint statement from The University of Law and The University of Law Students’ Union
Members of our community will be deeply concerned about the horrific events that have occurred over recent days in the Israel/Gaza conflict. We offer our deepest sympathies to all who have lost loved ones in the escalating violence and those with close connections to the region.
We know from history that conflict in this region is likely to increase incidents of antisemitism, Islamophobia and hate crime. The University of Law is a diverse, inclusive community where everyone is welcomed and valued, and our differences are a source of strength. We celebrate diversity and have a zero-tolerance approach to racism, discrimination or abuse of any kind.
The University has extensive support services for both students and staff and we would urge those affected to reach out to these services. If you experience or witness any such incidents, please report this through Report and Support or contact your campus Safeguarding Team at SafeguardingTeam[campus]@law.ac.uk.
To understand more about tackling antisemitism and Islamophobia, the Union of Jewish Students and Muslim Council of Britain have resources on their websites.
